The story of the Island of the dolls in south Mexico

located in : Mexico


 south of Mexico city, there is a small island home to 100 dolls hanging from trees.

The story goes that Julian Santana Barrera, the caretaker of the island,  found a little girl
 drowned in the surrounding water, he then saw a floating doll that he imagined
 belonged to the little girl, and he hanged it on a tree in her honor. Julian was 
apparently haunted by the spirit of the little girl and started hanging more dolls.

They began to think that the dolls themselves was possessed by the spirits of dead girls 
and continued to collect creepy dolls hanging them over the entire island, 
according to those close to him, it is as if Julian was driven by some unseen force that
 completely changed him. 
He was greatly affected by the fact that he couldn't save the little girl's life, 
after 50 years of collecting dolls and hanging them on the island, 
Julian was found dead, drowned in the same spot where he have said, he found the little girl.

local people have said the dolls move their heads and arms, and even open their eyes.
Some witnesses claim they have heard the dolls whispering to each other.
